The General Manager is a full-time, on-site leadership role based at the Degree Wellness® studio in West Bloomfield, MI. This role oversees daily studio operations, including scheduling, service delivery, inventory management, and facility upkeep to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. The General Manager leads, trains, and coaches studio team members, sets performance expectations, and fosters a culture of exceptional guest service and accountability.


During the first several months in this role, the key focus will be on Membership Growth. There is a separate growth based compensation package. This growth will be achieved by B2B partnerships, grass roots events, immediate follow up to leads, and finding other creative ways to bring our new brand to the attention of wellness loving potential members.


After this initial growth drive, the candidate will transition into the Day-to-day responsibilities including monitoring key performance metrics, managing budgets, driving membership and retail sales, and executing local marketing and community outreach initiatives. The General Manager also handles guest inquiries and escalations, ensures adherence to safety and compliance standards, and collaborates with corporate leadership on operational improvements and growth strategies.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in B2B relations, Sales, membership growth, and basic marketing skills, including community outreach and event coordination - Required examples
  • Demonstrated skills in team leadership, staff coaching, and performance management.
  • Experience with operations management, scheduling, and inventory control in a retail, wellness, or hospitality environment.
  • Strong customer service, conflict resolution, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Comfort with technology, point-of-sale systems, and basic data analysis for tracking KPIs and financial performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organization and time-management capabilities.
  • Background or interest in health, wellness, fitness, or spa services; prior experience in a wellness studio is a plus.
  • Ability to work on-site, as well as lead offsite tabling & other events, including evenings and weekends as needed, and to meet physical demands of a studio environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, or related field preferred.
