What does a corporate security manager do?

A Corporate Security Manager implements strategies to protect the physical property and information systems of a company. Your job is to assess security risks, develop internal controls to prevent the theft of equipment or proprietary information, and ensure that employees are safe in the workplace. When security breaches occur, your focus shifts from prevention to investigation and damage control. To thrive as a Corporate Security Manager, you need expertise in risk assessment, security protocols, crisis management, and a relevant degree in criminal justice or security management. Familiarity with security information and event management (SIEM) systems, incident response tools, and certifications such as CPP (Certified Protection Professional) are typically required. These competencies are vital for proactively protecting company assets, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining a safe environment for employees and stakeholders.

What are some common challenges faced by corporate security managers, and how can they be addressed?

Corporate Security Managers often face challenges such as keeping up with evolving security threats, balancing physical and cyber security measures, and ensuring staff compliance with security protocols. To address these issues, it's important to stay updated on the latest security technologies and industry best practices, foster a culture of security awareness among employees, and collaborate closely with IT, HR, and facilities teams. Regular risk assessments and ongoing staff training also help mitigate potential vulnerabilities.

Job description

ARMED SECURITY OFFICER (EVENING/OVERNIGHT)

Launch Your Security Career – Paid Training & Promotion Path Available GCI Security, Inc. – Greater St. Louis Area

POSITION SUMMARY

Security done right. Leadership built from within. At GCI Security, we don't just post guards — we empower officers to protect with purpose. Armed Security Officers at GCI Security are trusted to uphold the highest standards of protection in environments where safety and accountability matter most. In this role, you'll provide a strong, visible presence at high-risk or high-value sites, helping to deter crime, support client peace of mind, and respond decisively to potential threats. Our armed officers are trained professionals who understand that presence alone is not enough — clear communication, sound judgment, and unwavering professionalism are essential.

Starting Pay: $20.00-22.00 per hour (depending on site and experience) with unlimited long-term earnings potential as part of GCI's Fast-Track Leadership Program.

For those ready to step up, this role is designed to be a launchpad — not a landing spot. Our goal is to develop field leaders, mobile supervisors, trainers, and even future executives from within. We're building a team of growth-minded professionals, not just shift-fillers. If you're open to learning the business side of security and eventually stepping into customer-facing, leadership, or business development roles, GCI is the place to grow.

ABOUT US

At GCI Security, we believe great security is about more than having someone on-site — it's about trust, presence, and purpose. We're a locally owned company that was the first to deliver private security services to local taxing districts in St. Louis. Today, we continue to lead the industry by providing worry-free, professional guarding services that protect what matters most.

Our mission is clear: Built to empower. Driven to protect. Trusted to deliver worry-free guarding at the highest standard.

We serve private neighborhoods, corporate offices, retail properties, industrial sites, and more — delivering proactive protection through visible presence and responsive service.

At GCI, we don't just fill shifts — we build careers. Our team lives by five core values: Professionalism. Accountability. Growth. Communication. Integrity. These values shape how we hire, train, and promote from within. If you take pride in your work and want to grow with a company that backs you up, GCI is the place to do it.
