Gilbane is seeking a Senior Risk Manager to be responsible for all insurance matters for a minimum of one Division. The Manager manages strategy for insurance program traction and at least one RM Lead or Specialist. This role can sit in any of Gilbane's offices or work remotely.

Responsibilities
  • Performs owner and subcontractor contract reviews
  • Represents GIG on client calls and negotiations
  • Assesses project risks including but not limited to contractual risk, insurable risk, safety, subcontractor risk, and quality
  • Supports the Prequal group's assessment of subcontractor financial and safety risks
  • Maintains updated lists of CCIP pursuits and project data in the risk management system
  • Coordinates insurance pricing with the Insurance Specialist for CCIP, OCIP DIC, project specific SDI, project specific Pollution and Professional liability, and Builder's Risk
  • Communicates all project billing parameters including insurance rates and rate basis to Divisions, Business Units (BUs), project teams, and Corporate Accounting
  • Supports assigned BU including, but not limited to, Project Executives, Business Development, Estimating, Purchasing, Project Management, Project Engineers, Superintendents, or Accounting in making proper risk management decisions, and provides training as needed
  • Maintains relationships with BU leadership to ensure alignment and set strategy for insurance program traction
  • Interprets and translates the organizational strategy, ensuring team understanding of their role in accomplishing strategic goals
  • Represents GIG in Gilbane peer groups as needed
  • Tracks level 2/3 pursuits and assesses project risk and how best to protect Gilbane from risks
  • Communicates Level 3 recommendations to GIG Department Head Prior to the Enterprise Risk Review
  • Establishes Risk Management strategy with a Division based upon GIG's policies and procedures as defined in Baseline
  • Provides claim support and loss history analysis as needed
  • Supports and collaborates with all GIG department members as needed
  • Supports the internal audit process of projects within the applicable BUs
  • Manages a staff of BU Risk Specialists and/or Leads, responsible for the career development and coaching of team members
  • Informs the Risk Management Director of all Risk Management matters and obtains approvals as needed
  • Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 10-15 years of experience in risk management, underwriting, and/or brokerage services required
  • Architecture, engineering, and construction industry experience preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to coordinate and manage efforts involving individuals from different geographic areas as well as external partners

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.
The pay ranges from $141,000-$213,000 plus benefits and retirement program.
