What is a corporate flight intern?

A Corporate Flight Intern is a student or recent graduate who assists with various tasks in a corporate aviation department, typically gaining hands-on experience in flight operations, aircraft management, and safety procedures. Interns may help with flight planning, scheduling, administrative duties, and sometimes shadow pilots or maintenance crews. This role provides valuable exposure to the business aviation industry and can serve as a stepping stone to roles such as corporate pilot, dispatcher, or aviation manager.

What types of projects or responsibilities can a corporate flight intern expect to handle during their internship?

As a Corporate Flight Intern, you can expect to assist with flight planning, logistics coordination, and administrative tasks that support the flight operations team. Interns often help prepare passenger manifests, research optimal flight routes, and ensure compliance with aviation regulations. You may also have opportunities to shadow experienced crew members, participate in safety briefings, and gain exposure to the maintenance and scheduling processes. This hands-on experience provides valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of corporate aviation and helps build a foundation for a future career in the industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a corporate flight intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Corporate Flight Intern, you typically need foundational aviation knowledge, strong organizational abilities, and enrollment in or completion of an aviation-related program. Familiarity with flight scheduling software, aviation regulations, and safety management systems is often required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and teamwork skills help interns excel in supporting flight operations and interacting with crew and passengers. These competencies are crucial for ensuring safe, efficient, and professional corporate flight services while gaining valuable industry experience.
