Position: Financial Controller
Location: In person required: Central Phoenix - 24th St and Camelback
Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (most holidays mandatory)

Position Summary:
The Financial Controller will serve as the financial backbone of our multi-unit restaurant organization, overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. This role partners closely with operations leadership to drive profitability, ensure financial accuracy, and support strategic growth across the restaurant portfolio. The ideal candidate brings both strong technical accounting skills and a deep understanding of the unique financial rhythms of the restaurant industry.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, cash management, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare detailed P&L analyses for each restaurant location, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Coordinate annual audits and tax filings with external partners.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for all restaurant units and corporate departments.
  • Develop rolling forecasts and financial models to support decision-making and expansion planning.
  • Analyze food, labor, and operating costs to identify margin improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with operations teams to interpret financial results and drive accountability for performance.

Cash Flow & Treasury
  • Monitor daily cash flow, bank reconciliations, and liquidity needs.
  • Manage vendor payments, credit card settlements, and cash-handling controls across locations.
  • Optimize working capital and support capital expenditure planning.

Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls tailored to restaurant operations (inventory, cash handling, POS systems, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including sales tax and labor requirements.
  • Implement and refine financial policies, procedures, and systems to support scalability.

Systems & Process Improvement
  • Oversee accounting software, POS integrations, and reporting tools.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve financial visibility.
  • Support onboarding of new restaurant locations from a financial systems perspective.

Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the CFO, CEO, and operations leadership.
  • Communicate financial insights clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5-8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including multi-unit or restaurant/hospitality experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing accounting teams.
  • Proficiency with restaurant POS systems, inventory platforms, and accounting software (e.g., Toast, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Restaurant365).
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred
  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • Experience in a high-growth or franchise restaurant environment.
  • Background in cost analysis, menu engineering, or labor optimization.
