Job Description

This first shift Occupational Health Nurse is a licensed professional possessing a current RN license in Georgia. This individual is responsible for on-site promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness/injury, and protection from work related and environmental hazards within a manufacturing environment. This position includes providing appropriate employee care within the scope of the state's nurse practice act.

This position will provide onsite nursing services to the manufacturing plant located in Thompson, Georgia and remote nursing services in other states as part of a nursing team and assist with other facilities as needed. This position will provide appropriate health evaluations and treatment for work and non work-related injuries/illnesses. This position also handles case management strategies for work related injuries/illnesses. Use of an approved employee health record keeping system and compliance with regulatory requirements to maintain confidentiality of personal health information are required. This position will participate and coordinate pre-placement and/or post-employment health assessments. This position aids in the coordination of medical claims adjusters, medical personnel, workers' compensation, and FMLA. This position also coordinates and implements a wellness program that includes approved strategies for management of defined disease management programs to improve employee health outcomes and reduce organizational risk.

Position Overview

Responsibilities include Health and Wellness initiatives, Case Management of Workers' Compensation, coordinate health surveillance (post-employment physicals, hearing conservation, vision screening, etc.), provide appropriate evaluation and treatment, maintenance of employee medical files in accordance with records retention and medical confidentiality, and communication with plant management consistently at all locations.

Requirements:
  • RN with a current license to practice nursing in the State of Georgia. NCL is required but can be obtained after employment.
  • 2+ years experience in acute care or hospital setting, preferably with medical/surgical background or Occupational Health experience (strongly preferred).
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • The nurse must be able to work with confidential matters and be able to read, write, and interpret information.
  • The nurse must have good knowledge of computer operation and software including Microsoft Word and Excel, email and filing.
  • This is a flexible position, but business hours will be primarily 8-hour first shift.
  • Primary coverage of the Thompson, GA plant with ability to travel to the Columbia, South Carolina and Aiken, South Carolina plant locations on occasion. Provide remote coverage of other facilities as needed.
