Overview

Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer - HPC plans, designs, implements and supports the integration and requirements of one or more HPC/Server/Application systems. They also act as architects for non-technical people, gathering requirements, and turning them into working systems and services. The Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer - HPC is able to initiate projects and provide direction to leadership on technical matters and identifies what needs to be done and acts before being asked to or required by the situation. Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer - HPC creates and implements Infrastructure systems and services, and provides top-tier support for the Children's Mercy Research Institute.

Responsibilities

-Participates in the design, selection, and implementation and support of core infrastructure systems technologies for the Children's Mercy Research Institute (CMRI).

-Creates and maintains accurate documentation- Manages the overall health and performance of the High Performance Computing Environment located in the CMRI Data Center and other associated technologies- Provide friendly, concise, and informed technical support for CMRI staff, network users, hospital staff, patients, and the public- Maintains technical competency

Qualifications

-Bachelor's Degree and 5-7 years experience This is a senior technical position requiring the ability to make decisions based upon the analysis of complex systems which can only be developed through post-secondary education or extensive experience in the field or - HS diploma or equivalent and 7 or more years experience 8+ years of experience accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree - Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) Preferred

- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Experience:

This role is responsible for architecting, integrating, and maintaining the systems and services connected to the network for the Children's Mercy Research Institute (CMRI) Data center and associated High Performance Computing Systems and so must understand the common protocols in use, such as TCP/IP, LDAP, Apache, Java, etc. and how to configure devices using said protocols.

They must possess the knowledge and skills to perform advanced management and troubleshooting for Linux Servers in a hybrid environment. Requires knowledge of current Linux operating environments, effective verbal, and written communications skills to consult with management, business partners and vendors; and project management skills, including demonstrated ability to work effectively in small, interactive teams of technical and non-technical associates, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with varying priorities to successful completion.

They should be familiar with a subset of specialized systems technologies, such as Linux Red Hat/CentOS, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Docker/Kubernetes/Podman/Singularity, Open-source software provisioning, configuration management, and application-deployment.This role also needs to be able to write scripts and/or program in a language suitable to their specialty.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $48.12/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is entirely remote or work-from-home. The person hired must live in the Kansas City metro area and may attend on-site meetings, as scheduled.
