Family Medicine Core Residency Faculty Position
Our organization is excited to announce a full-time opportunity for a Family Medicine Core Residency Faculty role based in Fresno, California. We are seeking an ideal candidate who will play a vital role as a core faculty member in both our outpatient continuity clinic and the inpatient newborn nursery. This position is essential for the comprehensive education of Family Medicine residents and medical students.
The selected individual will engage in direct clinical teaching, scholarly activities, and active involvement in the governance and development of the residency program. Responsibilities include maintaining a personal continuity patient panel and providing supervision in both outpatient and inpatient environments. The faculty member will also deliver didactic instruction during resident education sessions and participate in structured academic initiatives that enhance resident development and program quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach residents and medical students in the outpatient continuity clinic and urgent care, Monday through Friday from 08:00 to 17:00.
- Maintain a personal panel of continuity patients.
- Supervise inpatient teaching rounds in the newborn nursery on a rotating schedule every 4-5 weeks, Monday through Friday from 07:00 to 19:00.
- Participate in educational didactic half-days on Wednesdays from 13:00 to 17:00.
- Provide remote supervision of residents during after-hours clinic calls.
- Engage in the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) to assess resident progression and advancement.
- Contribute to the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) overseeing curriculum development and program enhancement.
- Complete written and verbal evaluations of residents and medical students.
- Supervise residents on the mobile health unit.
- Participate in scholarly activities, including research, case reports, publications, and quality improvement projects in collaboration with residents and/or medical students.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited Family Medicine residency program.
- Possession of an unrestricted medical license issued by the Medical Board of California.
- Demonstrated experience in comprehensive outpatient care for adults, geriatrics, children, and newborns, with recent involvement in teaching residents and/or medical students.
- Clinical experience in managing both adult and newborn patients in an inpatient setting.
- Current board certification in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
- Eligibility for privileges in full-spectrum outpatient primary care and inpatient privileges for newborn care. If interested in adult inpatient care, the candidate must qualify for hospital privileges in adult inpatient medicine.
- Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
Working Conditions
Inpatient obstetrics coverage is not a requirement; however, there may be opportunities for occasional coverage of the adult inpatient teaching service for those interested.
