Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Technician โ€“ Motorola Systems

Location: Glynco, GA (Hybrid โ€“ 2+ days onsite; more during surge)

Salary: $70,000 โ€“ $75,000 Based on Experience and Technical Interview

Citizenship: U.S. Citizen (Required)

We are seeking a hands-on LMR Technician to support mission-critical radio communications systems in a federal environment.

This role is essential to ensuring:

  • Reliable communications
  • Rapid troubleshooting and repair
  • Continuous operational readiness

You will be the on-site Motorola SME, supporting both infrastructure and subscriber equipment.

Position Overview

This is a field-focused, technical role requiring deep experience with:

  • Motorola Land Mobile Radio systems
  • Codeplug (Co-Plug) development
  • RF system troubleshooting and maintenance

You'll work directly with end users and technical teams to ensure systems are fully operational, secure, and compliant.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with:
    • Land Mobile Radio systems
    • Motorola technologies (required)
  • Proven experience:
    • Building Co-Plugs (codeplugs)
    • Supporting multi-site LMR systems

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:
    • P25, trunked, and conventional systems
  • Experience with:
    • RF troubleshooting and diagnostics
    • Radio programming tools
    • Spectrum analyzers and RF tools
  • Familiarity with:
    • IP networking
    • VoIP integration

Core Competencies

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently in field environments

Education

What You'll Be Doing

LMR System Support & Operations

  • Serve as the primary Motorola LMR technician on-site
  • Support:
    • Radio infrastructure
    • Subscriber units
    • Dispatch systems
  • Provide daily troubleshooting and technical support

Installation & Maintenance

  • Install and maintain:
    • RF repeaters
    • Antennas and cabling
    • Dispatch and base station equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and system health checks

Programming & Configuration

  • Build and maintain Motorola Co-Plugs (codeplugs)
  • Program radios and update firmware/software
  • Configure systems for operational and security requirements

Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot:
    • Analog and digital systems (P25, trunked, conventional)
  • Diagnose RF and system performance issues
  • Support emergency response within 2 hours when required

Customer & Team Collaboration

  • Interface directly with end users to resolve issues
  • Communicate with Government LMR Manager
  • Collaborate with:
    • Engineers
    • IT teams
    • Telecom staff

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain service logs and technical documentation
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • FCC regulations
    • System standards and policies

Work Conditions

  • Hybrid role (minimum 2 days onsite; more during surge)
  • Must be available for rapid response (within 2 hours)
  • Fieldwork and physical installation tasks required
