Core Physicians is a physician-led, multi-specialty medical group affiliated with Exeter Health Resources and Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH). With more than 15 practice locations throughout the New Hampshire Seacoast, we provide integrated primary care, specialty care, and ancillary services to the communities we serve.

Position Summary

Reporting to the President of Core Physicians, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as the senior physician executive responsible for clinical, operational, and strategic leadership across the organization. The CMO partners with Core Physicians, Exeter Hospital, and Beth Israel Lahey Health leadership to advance clinical quality, physician engagement, patient safety, value-based care, and organizational growth while maintaining an active clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for clinical quality, patient safety, patient experience, and physician performance.

  • Lead physician recruitment, engagement, retention, and leadership development.

  • Drive clinical strategy, practice growth, and service line development across primary and specialty care.

  • Partner with executive leadership to advance value-based care, population health, and operational excellence.

  • Oversee physician performance, quality improvement, peer review, and clinical governance.

  • Collaborate with Beth Israel Lahey Health leadership to align local initiatives with system-wide priorities.

  • Champion a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Success Measures

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Physician recruitment, engagement, and retention

  • Clinical quality, patient safety, and patient experience

  • Provider productivity, access, and operational performance

  • Growth of primary and specialty care services

  • Value-based care and population health outcomes

  • Financial stewardship and leadership development

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with Board Certification and New Hampshire medical licensure (or eligibility)

  • Minimum of five years of progressive physician leadership experience

  • Leadership experience within a medical group, community hospital, or integrated health system

  • Demonstrated success in physician engagement, quality improvement, operational leadership, and strategic growth
