Purpose and Scope


To support the Diocese of Phoenix in its mission to Encounter the Living Christ, this position creates Spanish videos for the weekly televised Mass, diocesan website, and social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X, and YouTube to support the Communications Office, under the supervision of the Director of Communications.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to juggle multiple projects, work on tight deadlines, and drives projects and tasks to completion to ensure desired results are achieved. This role will work within the diocesan communications department to create compelling content to inspire, inform and evangelize, and assist in maintaining a robust pipeline to all social platforms.


Essential Job Functions

  • Works closely with Director of Communications and staff to produce content that resonates, provokes engagement, and evangelizes through Spanish-language platforms.
  • Shoots and edits videos, write content copy and publish content in Spanish for diocesan platforms.
  • Collaborates with team to build and grow social media platforms and relationships with local Spanish media.
  • Develops videos and podcasts produced exclusively for Spanish speaking audience.
  • Ingests and exports video.
  • Occasional board ops responsibility for podcast production and streaming.

Additional Job Functions

  • Performs any other job-related functions necessary to ensure the smooth flow of the operations within the Diocese Communications Office; and other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications.
Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to create scripts and video packages necessary for evangelization.
  • Understanding of copyright law for music and video.
  • Excellent grammar, writing and copy-editing skills.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premier video editing.
  • Videography skills.
  • Still photography skills a plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry standard video hardware (cameras, lighting, teleprompter, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
  • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of the Catholic faith and serve as a committed witness to its mission.
  • A degree in journalism, communication, or related field preferred.
  • Three-plus years of experience in video production required.
  • Bilingual candidate preferred.
  • Valid AZ driver’s license and the ability to travel to other locations within the Diocese for work related duties.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays, as needed.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands

  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, this position would require lifting, moving, holding and carrying video equipment, and frequent bending or standing, as necessary.
