Mannion for NY – Social Media Intern (2026 Cycle) 

Paid · $17+/hour · Flexible Scheduling 


The Mannion for NY campaign (NY-22) is seeking a Social Media Intern for the 2026 election cycle. This internship is a strong opportunity for college students or early-career individuals interested in gaining experience on a key competitive congressional campaign.

About the Role 

The Social Media intern will be responsible for assisting in content research and creation for Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok posts. You’ll work closely with the Social Media Lead to draft content, monitor current trends and conversations, follow account engagement, assist in managing the content calendar, and help with filming, editing, and captioning. 


Responsibilities 

  • Monitor local and national news and online conversations to identify issues/topics that are getting attention across social media platforms
  • Assist with content creation for video, graphic, and text posts, including filming, editing, and captioning
  • Help keep the content calendar up-to-date
  • Work with the Social Media Lead to develop weekly media plans and strategy 
  • Monitor engagement and content response across accounts
  • Assist with other day-to-day media needs and provide general support to campaign staff across media, comms, finance, and field teams

Qualifications 

  • Video and graphic editing experience, specifically in Canva and CapCut (preferably desktop). Adobe experience is a plus but is not required
  • Some experience in writing concise social media copy, especially for Facebook and Instagram
  • A basic understanding of Democratic positions and governmental procedure and language
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Clear written and verbal communication 
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and meet deadlines 
  • Interest in political campaigns, government, public service, or community engagement 

Compensation & Time Commitment 

  • $17+/hour, commensurate with experience
  • Flexible scheduling; suggested 15 - 20 hours per week, with evening and weekend availability
  • In-District (Syracuse, Utica, surrounding areas), with reliable transportation 
  • Immediate Start Date 
  • End Date: November 15th, 2026 

Location 

NY-22 (Syracuse, Utica, and surrounding areas).
