This is an unpaid volunteer/ internship position

Job Description

Report and write stories for publication or broadcast describing background and detail of events adhering to professional writing standards.

Review and evaluate copy for proper use of grammar, punctuation, etc.

Build contacts to maintain a constant continuum of relevant facts.

Interview individuals to gain additional insight and record information.

Investigate media releases and/or stories related to the organization's interests.

Attend conferences and ask questions when needed.

Work with other departments to determine relevant material.

Determine the appropriate emphasis, length, and format and organize material to complete assignments by deadline.

Upload copy to organizations' website.

Qualifications

A passion for women's economic opportunities

Must be a full or part-time student and working toward a degree

Must be eligible to receive school credit and commit to 2-3 days a week for 3 months or a college graduate with 1+ years experience in field of Journalism

Excellent command of the English language

Proven ability to work to stringent deadlines

Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously

Ability to work in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment with competing deadlines and priorities

Integrity, honesty, openness and a willingness to operate as a team player

Must have solid understanding of interview skills 

Must consistently exhibit sharp design skills

Must be highly experienced in editing & copy writing
