Job description

As the largest most diversified television broadcasting company in the country, we continuously look to embrace new opportunities and challenge ourselves to defy expectations of what a broadcaster can do. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual to drive quality and quality-related development work related to Sinclair's applications. You will work alongside the product teams to acquire in-depth knowledge of how each application works in terms of business logic, security aspects, development environments, and production environments. You will provide input into test strategies, document areas for improvement in design, and assist in corrective action in all stages of the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities: Operations, Collaboration & Partnerships
  • Recommend and assist in corrective actions taken at all stages of product life
  • Submit and track production (maintenance) and release issues
  • Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of deliverables
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing efforts across multiple projects
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, test data, project test progress and release reports, application turnover documents and test schedules
  • Design and implement software testing solutions via automated and manual means
  • Perform backend database testing in identified testing environment including validating stored procedures, jobs and triggers
  • Identify, document and track bugs
  • Collaborate with development team and business to troubleshoot issues
  • Ensure projects meet customer requirements and objectives
Performance Improvement
  • Help the software applications team to maintain a level of excellence
  • Develop and refine test case standards, methodologies and sustainable processes
  • Develop and evaluate performance metrics to establish process success
  • Design, document and implement procedures and techniques that are consistent with best practices for analyzing, testing, and evaluating the risk (software & business), accuracy, completeness, internal integrity/consistency, testability and overall quality of system
  • Research emerging technologies and identify opportunities for adoption
  • Track operations and constantly look for ways to make things work better, faster, and smoother
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in IT discipline or equivalent work experience
  • 3-6+ years of application testing experienceli>
  • Experience reporting, regressing and reproducing software problems
  • Experience with relational databases (administration and T-SQL); understanding of SQL and ability to query/validate sets of data
  • Experience testing 3rd party applications, determining root cause, and partnering with 3rd party vendors to resolve issues
  • Experience working with a formal Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process
  • Agile experience preferred
  • Experience in both front and back-end testing
  • Familiarity and experience with automated testing tools such as Robot Framework, Selenium, etc. preferred
  • Familiarity and experience with AI testing tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, etc. preferred
  • Experience using one or more of the following tools a plus: Jira, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Visual Studio / Git
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment, possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, and demonstrate strong judgment in the face of ambiguity

The base salary compensation range for this role is $98,000 to $109,500. Final compensation for this role will be
determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and employee stock purchase plan.
