Job description

Position Summary

The purpose of the FE4 position is to demonstrate proficiency in servicing equipment with advanced troubleshooting skills while applying excellent customer satisfaction skills. The FE4 will work on a manufacturer's entire black and white and color enabled machines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

All areas of responsibility listed below are essential to the satisfactory performance of this position, with reasonable accommodation, if necessary.  Any non-essential functions are assumed to be included in "other related duties as assigned":

  • Attend and pass manufacturers basic training classes.
  • Exercise and build proficiency in servicing equipment.
  • Learn complete assembly and disassembly procedures in the field or shop.
  • Develop ability to work independently.
  • Learn to logically troubleshoot machine problems utilizing all available resources.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in equipment cleanings and PMs.
  • To maintain, track and protect from damage all car stock and inventory that is issued.
  • Participate with other Technicians in field training.
  • Demonstrate acceptable verbal and written communication skills with customers and other employees.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record, and provide proof of minimum auto insurance coverage as required by state law.
  • Conforms to company guidelines on dress code and personal hygiene.
  • Maintain a safe vehicle with secure storage for parts.
  • Complete all types of paperwork accurately and legibly (timecards, equipment histories, service orders, etc.).
  • Learn and use communication systems with dispatch.
  • Read, be familiar with and maintain Field Engineering bulletins and servicing information.
  • Participate actively in the sales lead program.
  • Assist the sales force in accomplishing their goals through prompt and effective machine service and communication.
  • Learn and follow current procedures for return of parts and assemblies.
  • To act in a polite, professional manner that is beneficial to the reputation of Loffler Companies.
  • Responsible for understanding, staying updated on, and abiding by the Employee Handbook as written.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:        

  • In-office and travel to client sites as required.

Independent Judgment/Decision-Making:

  • Exercising good judgment on when to replace prats in a cost-effective manner.
  • Know when to escalate equipment repair challenges to the Specialist or other Senior Service Technicians.
  • Be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Can think outside of provided information to resolve problems.
  • Effectively prioritize the customer needs and concerns.
  • Prioritize importance of emergency calls, returns, incompletes and parts calls.
  • Allow sufficient travel time for arriving to work on time.

Communications/Interpersonal Skills:

  • Shows very effective communication, team building, coaching and persuasion skills.
  • Provides information and deals effectively with issues that are complex, confidential and sensitive in nature.

Technical Skills:

  • Can troubleshoot and resolve any electrical or mechanical problem.
  • Can troubleshoot any software problem identified in Manufacturer's documentation.

Problem Solving/Critical Thinking:

  • Identifies and resolves complex problems and situations using applicable theories and principles and provides creative solutions.

Education/Experience:

One of the following is considered acceptable:

  • Associate degree in electronics.
  • Armed forces training in electronics.
  • Vocational electronics/electro-mechanical training program.
  • Previous office equipment repair experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
