Job description

Staff Accountant Hybrid schedule available after trainingPosition SummaryThe Staff Accountant supports the daily accounting and financial operations of the bank by performing general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting support, and other routine accounting functions. This position works closely with the Controller and accounting team to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately, accounts are reconciled timely, and the bank’s financial records remain complete and reliable. The Staff Accountant also assists with month-end and year-end close, regulatory reporting, audits and examinations, and financial research. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work within the regulatory and control environment of a nationally chartered community bank.
 Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant accounting experience may be considered.
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience preferred; banking or financial institution accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with bank accounting, regulatory reporting, or Call Report preparation preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use the bank’s core, general ledger, and financial reporting systems.
 Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general ledger accounting, including preparing and posting journal entries and maintaining supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile general ledger, correspondent bank, cash, and other balance sheet accounts and research discrepancies.
  • Assist with daily, monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting processes and financial close.
  • Assist with preparation of internal financial statements, management reports, schedules, and supporting financial analysis.
  • Support accounts payable, expense accounting, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other general accounting functions as assigned.
  • Assist the Controller and CFO with Call Report preparation, regulatory reporting, and supporting schedules.
  • Research and resolve accounting differences, outstanding items, and unusual transactions in coordination with other bank departments.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation in accordance with internal controls, GAAP, bank policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and financial reviews.
  • Assist with budgeting, financial projects, process improvements, and other accounting initiatives as assigned.
