Job description

Make the Food Our Guests Come Back For

At Chuck-A-Rama, food is at the heart of what we do. Our Cooks help prepare the made-from-scratch dishes and familiar favorites our guests have been enjoying for generations.

As a Cook, you'll prepare and cook food using Chuck-A-Rama recipes, keep the buffet supplied with fresh, great-tasting dishes, and work alongside the rest of the kitchen team to make sure every meal we're proud to serve. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that's a great fit for someone who enjoys cooking, likes staying busy, and takes pride in seeing guests enjoy the food they've prepared.

What You'll Do

A typical shift may include:

  • Preparing ingredients and setting up your workstation for service
  • Preparing and cooking food according to Chuck-A-Rama recipes and standards
  • Cooking fresh food throughout the shift to keep the buffet stocked
  • Checking food for quality, freshness, taste, and presentation
  • Making sure food is prepared and served at the proper temperatures
  • Keeping your workstation and kitchen clean, organized, and sanitized
  • Safely using and caring for kitchen equipment
  • Following food safety, sanitation, and handling procedures
  • Communicating with the food bar and kitchen team about what needs to be prepared
  • Helping teammates and jumping in where needed during busy meal periods

What We're Looking For

Great Cooks care about the food they serve and understand that consistency matters. Whether it's the first plate of the day or the last, our guests should receive the same great Chuck-A-Rama experience. We're looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys cooking and working with food
  • Is dependable and ready to work
  • Can follow recipes and preparation instructions
  • Pays attention to quality and detail
  • Can stay organized while handling multiple tasks
  • Works well in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Understands the importance of food safety and cleanliness
  • Communicates well and works as part of a team
  • Is willing to learn and jump in wherever needed
  • Previous kitchen experience is helpful, but we're also happy to train someone with a great attitude and a willingness to learn.

Why You'll Love Working at Chuck-A-Rama

We want our team members to enjoy working here just as much as we want our guests to enjoy visiting us.

Benefits and perks include:

  • Flexible scheduling
  • Paid time off
  • No super-late restaurant nights
  • Dental insurance available to eligible full-time employees
  • Deeply discounted meals while working
  • Employee discounts
  • 401(k) with company match for eligible team members
  • Opportunities to learn, grow, and take on more responsibility

What Success Looks Like

A great Chuck-A-Rama Cook keeps fresh, delicious food coming throughout the meal. Your station stays clean and organized, recipes are prepared consistently, and you're always thinking a step ahead about what the buffet will need next. Most importantly, you take pride in the food you prepare because you know it's going straight to the families gathered around our tables.

Come Join Our Family

For 60 years, Chuck-A-Rama has been serving made-from-scratch food and bringing families together around the table. Our Cooks are an important part of keeping that tradition going. If you enjoy cooking, like working with a great team, and take pride in serving food people love, we'd love to have you.

Apply today and come grow with Chuck-A-Rama!

Since 1966, Chuck-A-Rama has been much more than a family buffet. We are proud to offer healthy options that fuel world famous athletes, sponsor local schools and universities, and feed worthy causes across Utah and Idaho.
