JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Dietary Aide (Breakfast/PM)
Department: Dining Services
Job Relationships:
Supervised by: Director of Dining Services
Supervises: None
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dietary Aide is responsible for setting up the tray line, dining room, and service of both at specified times. Breakdown of all dishes and dining room. Set up of all nourishments, desserts, salads, juices, and specials that do not need cooking.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training, Experience, and Abilities
No prior training or experience needed.
Basic food production.
Ability to relate to the elderly in a caring manner.
Must be able to accomplish all responsibilities without supervision or other employee assistance after the training period is completed and do so without injury to oneself or other individuals.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English as to be understood effectively by another individual.
Any satisfactory combination of education, training, experience, or abilities in a related field.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Turning on all equipment to be used on tray line.
  2. Setting up and serving of tray line. (Knowledge of diet therapy and how to make exchanges).
  3. Able to operate dish machine.
  4. Breakdown of all dishes from Nursing Home and dining room.
  5. Cleanliness of tray line, refrigerators counter tops and steam table.
  6. Thorough cleaning of floors.
  7. Prepares between meal nourishments.
  8. Breakdown and set-up steam table.
  9. Prepare desserts and salads.
  10. Assist cooks with preparation of food.
  11. Other miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
  12. Must be able to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Dietary Aide (Breakfast/PM)
  1. Abides by the standards and practices as set forth in the Corporate Compliance Code of Conduct.

JOB DEMANDS: Physical, Emotional
Moderate physical activity involved (walking, standing, lifting, bending).
Occasional heavy lifting. Must be able to lift about 50 pounds; stretch arms above head; bend to pick up objects from floor; and be able to endure cold of walk-in freezer.
All work areas have good lighting and ventilation.
Heavy emotional demands since responsibilities are complicated and exact. Much interaction with residents and staff.
Exposures to infectious diseases are possible. Employees who are immunosuppressed should be aware of the potential hazards.
