Terms of Employment: 10 month position, 6.67 hours per day
Salary: Per the terms of REC Collective Bargaining Agreement

Job Summary:  

The Library Information Specialist supports student learning and literacy development by managing the school library, providing access to information resources, and collaborating with teachers to integrate library services into the curriculum. This integration includes supporting students with research skills, digital citizenship and digital responsibility.  The Library Information Specialist also promotes hands-on learning opportunities including possible STEM integration.  This role fosters a love of reading, teaches foundational research skills, and ensures equitable access to diverse and age-appropriate materials for elementary students.

Qualifications/Skills:
Education/Certification/License:

  • Professional Educator License (PEL) registered in Region 06 West Cook
  • Library Information Specialist K-12 Endorsement
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children (preferred)
  • Previous school experience (preferred)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of children's literature and literacy development
  • Familiarity with library management systems and educational technology
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and staff
