Job description

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The line cook passionately prepares, portions, and cooks food items to Outback’s quality specifications. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1.    Follows established food safety guidelines, recipes, standards, and procedures
2.    Maintains a clean and food-safe environment at all times. 
3.    Passionately prepares, portions, and/or cooks food items to quality specifications
4.    Assesses ingredients and items for freshness and quality, and rotates product appropriately.
5.    Sets up and stocks stations with all necessary supplies
6.    Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
7.    Ensures that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion.
8.    Performs other related duties as assigned.
 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is in a kitchen setting with exposure to extreme temperatures (above 140 degrees / below 40 degrees) and loud environment. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, understand, and respond to colleague’s requests in a loud environment in a quick manner.
Employee must be able to move and lift items up to 35 lbs for distance up to 25 feet. Employee must be able to stand and be active for prolonged periods of time. 
Employee will be regularly to tolerate exposure to and/or contact with seafood without an allergic reaction or sensitivity. Must be able to wear vinyl or latex gloves.
Employee must have skill and coordination at using hands to perform kitchen duties.


POSITION TYPE
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.

2.    Previous experience working as a Line Cook or related field.
3.    In-depth knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
