JOB SUMMARY:

Plans and prepares entrees, appetizers, salads, desserts, specialties, or complete menu for the restaurant and other food and beverage outlet. Prepare food for a variety of patrons or events in addition to restaurant meals, such as buffets, parties, snacks, and beverages.

JOB RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Plan menus, taking advantage of foods in season and local availability
  • Prepares variety of foods according to customers' preferences or on instructions of superior, following approved procedures
  • Prepare food according to menu, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, and number of persons to be served
  • Portions and arranges food on serving dishes, trays and carts
  • Cleans and portions, and cuts or peels various foods to prepare for cooking or serving
  • Requisitions food supplies, kitchen equipment and appliances, and other supplies
  • Inspects and cleans kitchen appliances, and work areas for cleanliness and functional operation

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:

  • Be courteous
  • Show genuine care for all co workers and guest(s)

  • Proficient in the English language (verbal written), second language is an asset

Physical Demand Requirements:

This position requires standing and walking for extended periods and occasionally lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds. Duties require the regular use of hands and arms to handle, carry, and lift kitchen equipment, supplies, and food products, as well as occasional climbing and maintaining balance. The role requires close and distance vision to safely perform food preparation and kitchen tasks. Work is performed in a commercial kitchen environment where exposure to temperature variations, including heat from cooking equipment and cold from refrigeration areas, as well as moderate to high noise levels, is common. Duties may also involve contact with cleaning agents and other kitchen chemicals, which must be handled in accordance with established workplace safety procedures and occupational safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.

The hotel will function seven days a week, 24 hours a day. We may find it necessary to re schedule shifts according to our business volume. You must be willing and available to fulfill these demands.
