What is conversion rate optimisation?

Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) is the process of increasing the percentage of website visitors who take a desired action, such as making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or filling out a form. This is achieved by analyzing user behavior, testing different website elements, and implementing changes to improve user experience and encourage conversions. CRO involves strategies like A/B testing, improving website design, optimizing calls to action, and minimizing barriers to conversion. The ultimate goal is to maximize the effectiveness of a website and increase return on investment from existing traffic.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a conversion rate optimisation specialist?

To thrive as a Conversion Rate Optimisation Specialist, you need strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of digital marketing principles, and experience with A/B testing and data interpretation, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, Optimizely, Hotjar, and other CRO platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, creativity, and problem-solving abilities help you collaborate with teams and design effective experiments. These skills are vital for increasing website conversions, enhancing user experience, and driving business growth through data-driven decisions.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in conversion rate optimisation roles?

One common challenge in Conversion Rate Optimisation (CRO) is balancing quick wins with long-term strategic improvements, as stakeholders often expect immediate results from experiments and A/B tests. Additionally, CRO specialists frequently need to navigate conflicting opinions between marketing, design, and development teams while ensuring that data-driven recommendations are implemented effectively. Another challenge is obtaining sufficient traffic and statistically significant results, which can limit the speed and confidence of decision-making. Successful CRO professionals thrive by communicating clearly, prioritizing impactful tests, and fostering a culture of experimentation within their organizations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Client Strategist at 321, you'll serve as the strategic leader for a portfolio of growth-focused clients, helping them achieve measurable business results through modern marketing strategies.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strategic thinking with strong digital marketing expertise and enjoys partnering with clients to solve complex marketing challenges.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Review campaign performance and optimization opportunities.
  • Recommend budget allocations based on business goals and performance.
  • Analyze lead quality, conversion rates, ad spend, and return on ad spend.
  • Guide creative messaging and offer strategy based on customer insights.
  • Ensure paid media efforts align with the overall customer journey.

While our Digital Media team manages campaign execution, you'll provide strategic oversight and direction.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a strategic, growth-minded marketing professional who understands how modern marketing systems work together to drive measurable business results.

The ideal candidate combines business acumen with digital marketing expertise and can confidently lead conversations around paid media, CRM strategy, customer journeys, marketing automation, analytics, and conversion optimization. You're proactive, consultative, and comfortable challenging assumptions while helping clients make informed business decisions.

You thrive in a collaborative agency environment, enjoy solving complex marketing challenges, and naturally think beyond campaigns to focus on long-term business growth.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate has experience with:

  • Interpreting marketing performance metrics, including ROAS, CAC, CPL, conversion rates, pipeline value, and customer lifetime value.
  • Managing multiple client relationships in a fast-paced agency environment.

Preferred Industry Experience

  • Home services marketing, including roofing and contractor-based businesses.
  • Law firm and legal marketing.
  • Other lead generation-focused industries.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Success in this role means you:

  • Lead and continuously evolve each client's integrated marketing strategy with a focus on measurable business growth.
  • Own and drive the marketing plan while proactively identifying opportunities to improve performance.

  • Confidently lead strategic conversations that help clients make smarter marketing and business decisions.
  • Partner effectively with internal teams to ensure strategies are executed successfully across every marketing discipline.
  • Hold yourself, clients, and internal teams accountable for delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Thrive while managing multiple complex client accounts in a collaborative, fast-paced agency environment.
  • Focus on long-term business growth-not simply completing marketing tasks or executing individual campaigns.

WHAT YOU HAVE

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in client strategy, digital marketing, account leadership, growth consulting, or marketing strategy within an agency environment.

  • Experience working with CRM platforms such as GoHighLevel, HubSpot, or Salesforce.
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools, including ClickUp.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced agency environment managing multiple client accounts.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

This position reports to the Director of Client Sucess and partners closely with Client Success, Digital Media, Creative, CRM, SEO, Content, and Development teams to deliver integrated marketing strategies that drive client growth.
