UCT is looking for a talented Engineer IV to join us in Phoenix, AZ!
This position will be responsible for managing/overseeing ongoing site engineering activities, Leading Key improvement Programs/projects. Excels in program management, engineering cost estimation, Quality disciplines, statistical methods, semiconductor processes, parts cleaning, and coating. Leads development and implementation of resolutions/solutions to key customer concerns to maintain and increase business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leader in strategic process development across multiple sites for new capabilities and yield improvement for UCT and its customers.
  • Applying the principles of mass, momentum, and heat transfer to process and equipment design, including conceptual, scheme, and detailed design.
  • Supporting the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations across multiple sites for UCT's strategic problems.
  • Defines process requirements for NPI and new line start ups including equipment needs and necessary supporting systems for customer success.
  • Serves as technical lead for global peers by giving technical guidance and resources for strategic and complex technical problems.
  • Work closely with Sales to interface with the customer in support of new and existing business activities by developing customer ready technical roadmaps and leading projects to complete them.
  • Advises Operations Site managers and Sales to deploy Engineering solutions including technical problem solving, work instruction issues, and other Engineering activities as needed.
  • Attends key meetings on new process development, customer updates, CIP, & key qualifications etc.
  • Drives process control systems (PCS) and SPC matching efforts for key customers and helping to identify and eliminate gaps between sites.
  • Proven experience in Kaizen concepts, Lean Manufacturing.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Assessing processes for their relevance and assessing the adequacy of engineering equipment.
  • Reviewing existing data (also lab analyses) to identify and interpret trends as well as to determine if more research or types of information need to be collected.
  • Designing, installing, and commissioning new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes.
  • Preparing reports, flow diagrams and charts.
  • Assessing the availability of raw materials and the safety and environmental impact of the plant.
  • Managing the cost and time constraints of projects and tasks.
  • Working closely with Quality and Operations as well as other Engineers to monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of a plant.
  • Ensuring processes work at optimum levels, to the right rate and quality of output, in order to meet supply needs.
  • Ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations.
  • Working closely with other specialists, including scientists responsible for the quality control of raw materials, intermediates and finished products; Engineers responsible for plant maintenance; commercial colleagues on product specifications and production schedules; and the operating crew.
  • Superior people management and leadership skills; familiarity with wet chemistry processing, semiconductor tool consumables, semiconductor technology, critical cleaning technology, semiconductor processing, coating technologies, and CAD implementation.
  • High level troubleshooting skills coupled with hands-on approach to solving problems. Utilizes project management methods for tracking projects. Effective verbal & written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the organization.
  • Able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Demonstrable understanding of production, engineering & quality initiatives and with safety & quality practices. Proficiency in the use Excel, PowerPoint and other systems/software to perform job duties satisfactorily.

Educational/Certification Requirement:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry or Physics or relevant semiconductor related degree.
  • Master's or higher degree, or equivalent post-graduate education in above subjects preferred.
  • A combination of demonstrated skills and experience may be considered in lieue of A higher degree.

Work Experience Requirements:
  • 6+ years related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry.

Work Environment:
This job is usually performed in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other related equipment. The employee will also be expected to be present in the manufacturing areas as required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and manufacturing areas can occasionally be moderate or loud.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit; climb stairs, maintain balance; employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust optical focus.
