Job description


We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the Department of Defense (DoD) medical mission across the CONUS region. This role is responsible for supporting, securing, and troubleshooting complex LAN/WLAN/WAN environments across DHA networked facilities. The ideal candidate will serve as a senior technical expert and key point of contact for network operations, performance, and issue resolution.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide senior-level support for enterprise LAN/WLAN/WAN infrastructure across the CONUS region
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues involving routing, switching, wireless, and communications systems
  • Install, configure, manage, and document network equipment and services
  • Serve as a key point of contact for network operations, configuration management, and connectivity issues
  • Use tools such as SolarWinds Orion, ARMIS, and Ansible to monitor, diagnose, and improve network performance
  • Support and maintain network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and IDS
  • Develop and update network standards, procedures, and technical documentation
  • Advise internal teams and government stakeholders on network design, implementation, and best practices
  • Communicate status, recommendations, and resolutions clearly to customers and leadership
  • Participate in special projects and additional support efforts as needed

Requirements:
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field and 5 years of related experience
    OR technical/vocational training and 10 years of directly related experience
  • IAM Level III certification (or equivalent) in compliance with DoD 8570
  • CCNP required
  • CISSP required
  • Experience supporting DoD healthcare information systems
  • Strong experience with Cisco networking, Windows networks, and SolarWinds Orion
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise networking protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HTTP/HTTPS, and related routing/switching concepts
  • Experience with routed, switched, and wireless network environments
  • Knowledge of network security principles and tools
  • Experience using diagnostics and monitoring tools to resolve issues across all layers of the OSI model
  • Familiarity with network testing tools, cable standards, and WAN connectivity
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with government personnel, medical professionals, and technical teams
  • Must be able to travel to supported sites if required

Preferred:
  • Experience with Zero Trust Architecture
  • Experience writing technical standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Ability to lead technical teams and support enterprise-wide initiatives
