Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Process Controls Manager in Memphis, TN. The Process Controls Manager leads the strategy, coordination, and execution of automation and process control initiatives within a growing industrial manufacturing environment. This strategic leadership role focuses on developing automation architecture, managing complex projects, and ensuring that control systems support long-term scalability and operational efficiency.

Job Type: Permanent

Annual Salary: $110,000 to $140,000 Annually BOE

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive long-term automation and process control strategies across the organization.
  • Coordinate automation projects from the planning phase through final execution.
  • Review control system architecture to identify opportunities for performance and reliability improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, IT, and external vendors to ensure projects meet business objectives.
  • Evaluate and optimize PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial automation systems for scalability.
  • Troubleshoot complex controls and automation issues while driving continuous system improvements.
  • Review technical documentation including electrical drawings, P&IDs, programming logic, and project specifications.
  • Manage external automation partners and contractors to ensure quality and project success.
  • Establish and maintain organizational automation standards and best practices.
  • Support budgeting, project planning, and long-term capital initiatives as the internal subject matter expert.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or process control.
  • Expertise in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial automation architecture.
  • Deep understanding of control networks and communication protocols.
  • Proven experience coordinating automation projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret and review electrical drawings, P&IDs, and complex automation documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of Allen-Bradley systems is highly preferred.
  • Experience within industrial manufacturing environments and capital project management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Industrial Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to think strategically about complete system architecture rather than individual components.
  • Strong organizational and professional communication skills for coordinating with vendors and leadership.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to operate a computer and technical equipment.
  • Ability to navigate and walk through industrial manufacturing environments.
  • May need to occasionally stoop, kneel, or bend when inspecting control systems or installations.
  • Specific vision abilities required for reviewing technical drawings and programming logic.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and through digital communication tools.
