Renishaw is a global leader in precision metrology, calibration, and manufacturing technologies. Our solutions are used on the world's most advanced CNC machine tools to improve accuracy, productivity, and process reliability across aerospace, automotive, medical, and highprecision manufacturing sectors.

We are seeking an ElectroMechanical CNC Retrofit Technician to join our Machine Tool Solutions team in Canada. This role is ideal for a technician with strong electrical and mechanical fundamentals, proven experience working directly on CNC machines, and a desire to specialize in advanced probing, calibration, and control integration technologies.

This is a fieldbased position supporting customers across Canada.

Role Overview

In this role, you will install, commission, and support Renishaw machine tool products on a wide variety of CNC platforms. You will work handson with machine tools, electrical cabinets, control systems, and software-acting as a technical expert for customers, OEMs, and internal teams.

You will apply both electrical and mechanical disciplines daily, diagnosing integration issues, optimizing machine performance, and delivering reliable measurement solutions in active production environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, retrofit, and commission Renishaw probing, tool setting, calibration, and motion systems on CNC machine tools
  • Perform handson electrical and mechanical integration, including:
    • Reading and troubleshooting electrical schematics
    • Wiring sensors, interfaces, and control components
    • Mechanical mounting, alignment, and adjustment of measurement hardware
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving CNC controls, machine I/O, feedback systems, and kinematics
  • Configure and validate probing cycles, macros, and machine calibration routines on customer machines
  • Support and optimize Renishaw PCbased software used for calibration, inspection, and process control
  • Train customers and partners on system operation, best practices, and basic troubleshooting
  • Provide technical support during demonstrations, proofofconcept trials, and application evaluations
  • Communicate clearly with customers, sales engineers, and internal technical teams to ensure successful project outcomes

Required Experience & Background

  • Advanced diploma or higher in a supporting field, or equivalent handson experience in:
    • Electromechanical technology
    • Industrial maintenance
    • CNC machine service
    • Automation or manufacturing systems
  • Strong electrical fundamentals, including:
    • Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
    • Sensors, relays, and I/O
    • Safe troubleshooting practices around live equipment
  • Practical mechanical aptitude, including use of hand tools, alignment techniques, and machine hardware installation
  • Comfort working inside CNC control cabinets and on operating machine tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or similar
  • Familiarity with CNC probing systems, tool measurement, or machine calibration technologies
  • Understanding of Gcode
  • Background in machine tool retrofits, rebuilds, or automation integration
  • Handson experience working directly on CNC machine tools in a service, retrofit, OEM, or manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting production machining environments (mills, lathes, multiaxis machines)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong problemsolving skills across electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple customer engagements
  • Clear communication skills for customer interaction, training, and technical reporting
  • Professional, safetyconscious approach when working in active manufacturing environments
  • Willingness to travel within Canada

Compensation & Benefits
