Job description


PRIMARY PURPOSE:
  • Provide in-house technical capability to design, build, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment and robot cells.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in controls and automation systems to suppo1t manufacturing business needs (stamping and assembly)
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems
  • Participate in the design and build of automation cells and electrical
    • Electrical drawings in AutoCAD
    • Electrical cabinet buildup and wiring
    • Automation cell buildup
    • Robot setup, dress-out, testing, and commissioning
    • Debug and startup
  • Develop BOMs and source required components for integration projects
  • Supervise outside contractors working on automation projects for TOM
  • New equipment specification and buyoff
  • Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements
  • Coordinate automation campaigns
  • Manage backups of automation programs
  • Support training of facilities team personnel with troubleshooting controls and performing repairs or upgrades of automated systems
  • Develop operating procedures and equipment standards for automation and related electrical systems
  • Support manufacturing engineering activities to improve cycle times, improve quality, meet uptime objectives, and implement preventive maintenance programs
  • Successful candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and customer oriented
  • Self Starter - works well under minimal supervision. Able to independently troubleshoot equipment and continuously evaluate equipment for improvement for quality and delivery
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and equipment manuals for design and troubleshooting purposes
  • Sound working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Power Point, and
  • Ability to identity ·root-cause' and initiate effective corrective actions relative to sheet metal stamping and assemblies
  • Capable of interpreting engineering standards and applications
QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma
  • 3+ years of experience in the following:
    • Allen Bradley Compact/ Control/ Guard Logix PLCs
    • Allen Bradley Panel View
    • ABB and Fanuc robots
    • Weld timers, SPR, laser, and other joining process controllers
    • Communications protocols: Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, Devicenet
    • PC setup - software and hardware configuration
    • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective verbal and written communication
PREFERRED:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar degree) with prior controls and electrical work background
  • Prior experience in a similar capacity with Automotive OEM/Supplier in an automotive stamping and assembly
  • AMR/AGVs, Cobots, and Vision Systems
  • Experience designing, building, and wiring industrial controls cabinets
  • Stamping press line automation experience preferred - FOL de-stacking, washer/oiler, centering systems, inter-press, and EOL conveyor system
  • Familiarity with stamping and robotic weld processes
  • Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes, practices and principles
  • Software: AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and experience working with 30 CAD models
  • Experience with Visual Basic, Visual C++, or other programming languages
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team oriented environment
  • Any previous supervisory experience
