Job Summary:
Develop and modify systems, methods and controls to meet production and quality standards. Define and integrate complex control systems equipment and introduce new technologies and solutions to improve performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create and modify programming in various plant automation systems to improve control strategy, increase capacity, and other enhancements as needed.
  • Develop and implement process controls solutions including advanced control concepts.
  • Apply statistical process controls methods to improve performance and reduce costs of goods of the company's manufacturing activities.
  • Define and control the standardization of process control hardware, software and control strategies.
  • Lead and coordinate the process controls function in design, construction, and startup of new or improved equipment and systems.
  • Develop and update process controls documentation for new and existing equipment and systems.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies associated with the industry, through trade magazines, training classes and technical manuals.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
  • Travel to Hood plants throughout New England and New York
  • Up to 50% travel

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors or Associate's degree in Engineering or 10 year(s) of related experience, or equivalent combination of each.
  • 5+ years' experience in engineering of industrial control systems in a team environment.
  • Related experience working in 24/7 high volume production environment.
  • Food/ beverage processing and packaging experience is preferred.
  • Experience in Siemens Step 7 PLC Programming, TIA Portal, WinCC, Simatic ET 200S I/O
  • Experience in programming HMI projects using FT View Studio ME, SE and Allen Bradley PLCs.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety, instrumentation, distributed control and power systems.
  • Thorough understanding of theory and design of AC and DC circuits, electronic components, and circuit analysis.
  • Understanding of advanced control programming including custom instruction sets and data types, producer/consumer data models, and integrated motion control.
  • Thorough understanding of communication protocols including DH+, ControlNet, Profibus, DeviceNet, RIO, RS485, Ethernet/IP
  • Minimal travel required to Hood or vendor facilities
  • Proficient programming skills in LD, FBD logic using RSLogix software.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location.
The pay range for this position is
$131,300-$145,300 USD
