Assistant Controller, North America / Global SOX Lead

Hybrid / Full Time / Portsmouth, NH

As our Assistant Controller, N.A. / Global SOX Lead, you'll help shape the financial integrity of our North America business while leading the company's global SOX program. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity designed for someone who wants to grow into a North America Controller role.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're seeking a technically strong accounting leader to serve as the right hand to the North America Controller while overseeing Novocure's Global SOX program. You'll partner across Finance, IT, HR, Internal Audit and external auditors to ensure strong financial controls, accurate reporting and continuous process improvement. This role offers a clear succession path into a Controller position for the right individual.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Support preparation and analysis of North America financial statements and month-end close activities.
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, payroll accounting, inventory accounting and financial results.
  • Lead and coordinate the Global SOX program across Novocure.
  • Partner with control owners, Finance, IT and external auditors to strengthen internal controls.
  • Research and implement new US GAAP accounting standards.
  • Drive process improvements that enhance efficiency and reporting quality.
  • Support external audits and North America tax-related activities.
  • Serve as a technical accounting resource and emerging leader within the Accounting organization.

ABOUT YOU

You're a proactive accounting professional with strong technical accounting expertise, excellent judgment, and the desire to grow into a Controller-level leadership role. You enjoy solving complex problems, partnering across functions, and continuously improving financial processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • CPA preferred; CPA candidate or equivalent path considered.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting research.
  • Experience supporting audits, SOX compliance and internal controls.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and leadership skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; SAP experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Big Four public accounting experience.
  • Medical device, biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Leadership experience within a public company accounting environment.
  • Experience driving finance process improvement initiatives.

HOW YOU'LL WORK

  • Hybrid schedule with approximately 3-5 days per week in the Portsmouth, NH office.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance leadership and global business partners.
  • Participate in month-end close, audit cycles and strategic accounting initiatives.
  • Opportunity to develop into the future North America Controller.

WHAT WE OFFER

This pay range which Novocure expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting is $115,000 - $155,000/yr. This position is also be eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock unit grant in addition to a full range of benefits. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and skills demonstrated.
