A Controller Manager is a senior-level professional responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of an organization, including the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, and implementation of controls to mitigate risk. They ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies, and may also be involved in budgeting, forecasting, and supporting audits. Controller Managers typically supervise a team of accountants and work closely with upper management to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.

Job description

Controller

We are a Leading Food Manufacturer located in the NY State Capital Region.  Our products are available nationwide through numerous retailers, with a growing presence across the country.  As we continue to expand, we are looking to hire a hands-on Controller to lead our accounting function. You'll own the monthly close, oversee our daily bookkeeping, keep our cost and inventory numbers sharp, and work directly with ownership and plant leadership to drive profitability. This isn't a role where you oversee from a distance - you'll be in the numbers yourself while also shaping financial strategy.

What you'll do:

  • Own monthly/annual close, reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Manage standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
  • Build budgets and forecasts; track performance vs. plan
  • Oversee payroll, AP/AR, and cash management
  • Manage banking relationships and coordinate with our outside CPA firm
  • Supervise a small bookkeeping (1-3 people)
  • Partner with operations on cost control and capital decisions

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance
  • 5-8+ years accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing
  • Comfortable with standard costing and inventory valuation
  • ERP/accounting software experience (Sage, Intacct preferred).
  • CPA/CMA a plus, not required
  • Someone who's happy rolling up their sleeves in a smaller company

Compensation:

$95,000-$115,000 base, plus performance bonus potential.

Benefits:

  • Health
  • Simple IRA with 3% match
  • PTO, etc.

If you are looking for an opportunity where your work truly makes a difference and you can grow alongside a successful and expanding organization, we encourage you to apply today!
