The Senior Controller plays a strategic leadership role within the Finance organization, overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, treasury, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and risk management. This role ensures the company's financial infrastructure supports both short- and long-term objectives by driving operational excellence, maximizing financial performance, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Senior Controller serves as a key advisor to executive leadership, providing critical insights and direction on financial strategy, cash flow optimization, and business planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the CAO and executive team to shape and execute financial strategy, planning, and forecasting.
  • Develop and implement systems, policies, and procedures that enhance the company's financial operations and internal controls.
  • Drive transformation initiatives in finance to improve operational efficiency and scalability.
  • Oversee enterprise-wide cash management operations, ensuring optimal liquidity, cash flow forecasting, and working capital management.
  • Manage relationships with banking partners and optimize cash positions across all accounts and entities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of financial obligations in compliance with company policies.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of financial statements, management reports, and forecasts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Direct internal and external audits, tax filings, and all financial reporting to governing bodies.
  • Ensure timely reporting and compliance with all legal and financial regulations.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of 5-7 accounting and finance professionals (both exempt and non-exempt), including any external accounting resources.
  • Build a high-performing finance team by fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, and collaboration.
  • Lead the company's budgeting and financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and conduct variance analysis to drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Evaluate and enhance accounting systems, ERP platforms, and financial tools to improve workflow automation and reporting accuracy.
  • Maintain and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all accounting processes.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • 5-7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or senior-level role
    • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial analysis, and treasury operations
    • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred:

    • Experience with ERP/accounting software such as AS400, McLeod, Procede, ADaM, or Great Plains
    • Experience in transportation, logistics, dealerships, manufacturing or related industries
    • Exposure to multi-entity or multi-national financial operations
