Job description

We are partnering with a well-established and growing company to identify an Assistant Controller who will play a key role in leading the accounting function and supporting the companyโ€™s continued growth.


This is an excellent opportunity for a strong accounting leader who enjoys being hands-on, improving processes, and working closely with the Controller and broader finance leadership. The Assistant Controller will help oversee day-to-day accounting operations, lead the close process, support financial reporting, and contribute to building a scalable finance organization.


Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Controller to oversee the companyโ€™s accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting packages, and variance analyses.
  • Oversee general ledger activity and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Manage and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, review, and development opportunities.
  • Support the annual audit, tax filings, and other compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and operational initiatives.
  • Review accounting for complex transactions and assist with the implementation of new accounting policies or procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, and automate manual workflows.
  • Assist with system implementations, process improvements, and other special projects as the company continues to scale.


Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful experience in a leadership or management capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and the month-end close process.
  • Prior public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in a growing, multi-entity, or fast-paced environment preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems.
  • A collaborative leadership style with strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable balancing strategic projects with hands-on involvement in day-to-day accounting.
