Job Description:

Job Summary

The PROPWR Assistant Controller supports the PROPWR Controller in overseeing accounting, financial reporting, and internal control activities for the PROPWR power and energy business unit. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and providing financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Support the PROPWR Controller in the monthly close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting work papers.
  • Manage PROPWR revenue accounting activities, including monthly revenue accruals, reconciliation of revenue reports, and intercompany or intersegment revenue transactions.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging for the PROPWR business, ensuring timely billing, f, and coordination of credit memos as needed.
  • Assist with analytical review of monthly operating results to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records; investigate and explain variances against budget and forecast.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for the PROPWR segment in collaboration with the Controller and Finance team.
  • Review labor hours, headcount, and related cost reports for accuracy and reasonableness with collaboration from Operations.
  • Assist with accounts payable accrual analysis and preparation of related journal entries.
  • Collaborate with Fixed Asset and Finance teams to ensure accurate capitalization, tracking, and depreciation of PROPWR assets.
  • Coordinate and respond to internal and external audit requests, including documentation related to SOX, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Document and support maintenance of effective internal controls in compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable tax, accounting, and reporting requirements impacting the PROPWR business.
  • Support special projects, process improvement initiatives, and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned
  • Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, required.
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably supporting operational or business segment accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to Midland, TX for 2-3 days at quarter-end to support financial close and in-person coordination.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems, databases, and Microsoft Office 365 applications; ability to quickly learn new systems.
