RN - Correctional Health (Night Shift) Travel Position
Location: Hartsville, TN
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 12 Weeks
Shift: 3x12 Nights
Pay: $ 2,480/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Job Description
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care within the correctional healthcare environment at Hartsville, TN. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for inmates/residents in accordance with CoreCivic policies, state regulations, and professional standards.
This role requires excellent clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to perform both independent and collaborative nursing duties in a secure facility setting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care including medication administration, treatments, and emergency response.
  • Attend and assist physicians during sick call and medical examinations.
  • Conduct assessments for newly admitted or ill inmates/residents, referring to emergency care when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records.
  • Perform emergency procedures and notify the provider for further treatment orders as needed.
  • Supervise and guide LVNs/LPNs and non-licensed staff to ensure quality patient care delivery.
  • Monitor inmates/residents admitted to outside hospitals and coordinate discharge planning as directed.
  • Assist in coordinating medical services with contract providers and external healthcare agencies.
  • Inspect the medical unit for contraband risks and ensure the safe storage and disposal of medical supplies.
  • Provide health counseling and education to inmates/residents individually or in groups.
  • Support the Health Service Administrator in reviewing medical documentation and preparing reports.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws and facility formulary policies, including controlled substance management.
  • Participate in safety reporting, emergency response, and accreditation readiness (NCCHC, ACA, JCAHO).
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with correctional staff and healthcare teams.

Qualifications
License:
  • Active RN license in the state of Tennessee

Experience:
  • Preferred: One (1) year of professional nursing experience (correctional, emergency, or acute care preferred)

Certifications:
  • Valid driver's license
  • BLS (recommended)

Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited college, university, or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing
