AV Service Technician Lead

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and professional AV Service Technician Lead to join our team in a client-facing position specializing in high-end residential smart home systems. In this role, you will provide expert troubleshooting, service, and maintenance for complex home technology systems—including automation platforms, audio/video distribution, home theaters, lighting control, networks, and surveillance systems and more. This is an excellent opportunity for a technician who takes pride in craftsmanship, thrives in problem-solving environments, and enjoys working with cutting-edge technology in stunning residences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve issues across integrated AV and control systems (Crestron, Savant, Elan, URC, Control4, Lutron, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot and service distributed audio/video, home theater systems, media rooms, lighting/shade control, and network infrastructure
  • Provide remote and onsite support for system performance, firmware updates, hardware failures, and user experience improvements
  • Serve as a technical point of escalation for complex or high-profile service calls
  • Identify and fix network-related performance issues, configuration problems, or equipment failures
  • Perform routine system maintenance, firmware updates, and system optimizations
  • Interface directly with homeowners, estate managers, and design/build professionals with professionalism and clarity
  • Document service calls, findings, and resolutions in a timely and organized manner
  • Recommend system upgrades or preventive measures when necessary
  • Ensure all work is performed cleanly, discreetly, and in line with the standards of luxury environments

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in AV/low voltage troubleshooting and service

• In-depth knowledge of control systems (Crestron, Savant, Control4), lighting/ shading (Lutron), networking, and home theater technology

• Strong communication skills and client-facing professionalism

• Working knowledge of remote support tools and service platforms (OvrC, Domotz, etc.)

• Familiarity with home theaters, matrix switches, DSPs, wired/wireless networking, and rack systems

• Experience managing or leading small service teams is a plus

• Comfortable working in high-end homes with a premium level of client interaction

Preferred Certifications (a plus, not required)

• Crestron, Savant, Control4, Elan, URC, RTi, QSC technician certifications

• Lutron HomeWorks or Ketra, Vantage, RadioRa

• CTS or CTS-I (AVIXA)

• Network certifications (Cisco, Ubiquiti, CompTIA)
