Job description

This position is responsible for leading business development efforts within the designated market area. As the Business Development Officer, you are self-motivated & a team player, and you employ excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. You are a people-person and enjoy leading presentations, networking groups, and sourcing opportunities in the community to increase membership growth. Outstanding customer service and relationship building skills are important in this role, as a key component is to identify opportunities to promote the credit union and increase membership growth.
What You'll Do
  • Develop a strategic plan for development of new business and provide tactical steps for implementation to meet or exceed goals/membership growth
  • Generate and lead onboarding opportunities and financial literacy presentations with new/existing businesses and partners to increase membership growth
  • Participate in and lead educational opportunities through professional or networking groups
  • Lead the business development needs of the designated market area
  • Cultivate new and maintain existing relationships in the designated market area through frequent follow up visits/calls to strengthen business relationships and opportunities
  • Develop referral relationships
  • Open new memberships via iPads at onboardings/ events as applicable
  • Effectively present and explain the credit union's products & services and their intended value to prospective SEGs, Partner Groups and local organizations
  • Owning the relationship with prospects and current SEG/Partner Groups; drive the entire sales cycle, manage questions/BD processes, and pursue opportunities to expand scope and services
  • Submit progress reports on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity
  • Contact prospective members and partner groups to present information on products and services of the credit union (benefit fairs, new hire orientations/onboardings; events, sponsorships, etc.)
  • Engage in business development activities in the local communities of the designated market area, including visible participation in business, community and charitable organizations
  • Assist branches within the designated market area to achieve growth metrics.
  • Prepare presentations and present them to sell and promote LGE products and services to current and potential members
  • Monitor business development budget in the designated market area
  • Flexible work schedule that will include some evening and weekend hours
  • Maintain familiarity with and follow all policies, procedures and processes which have been established in order to meet compliance requirements of all applicable federal regulations. The regulations include but are not limited to the Privacy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Reg. CC and Patriot Act.

Who You Are
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in business-related field
  • Required: 4+ years of sales or 5+ years of business development experience
  • Preferred: Banking and Credit Union knowledge and/or experience
  • Self motivated individual with the following skillset: Networking/Prospecting, Ability to drive strategic direction, Persuasive communication skills, Ability to build collaborative relationships, Public Speaking, Sales Planning/Meeting Sales Goals, Identification of Customer Needs and Challenges, Market Knowledge & Territory Management
