As part of our long-term strategy to continue this unprecedent growth, an opportunity exists for a Control Systems Engineer.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Control Systems Engineer is a developing role within EVO Power’s Technology team.

This position is designed for early-career engineers with a solid foundation in software coding and development, who are looking to apply these skills within control systems in the energy storage industry.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers and receive direct mentorship and technical guidance, particularly in software and control systems development. This role offers strong learning and growth opportunities within a fast-scaling, high-impact industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development

    • Support the design and development of control systems tailored for battery energy storage system (BESS) applications.
    • Assist in creating and implementing embedded software for seamless integration within electronic systems and control frameworks.

PLC Programming

    • Assist in developing, programming, and debugging PLC code using industry-standard languages such as ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text.
    • Support customization and configuration of PLC hardware and software to meet specific project requirements.
    • Assist in implementing and troubleshooting control strategies for various automated systems.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
    • Exposure to CODESYS or similar IEC 61131-3 compliant development platforms.

HMI (Human-Machine Interface) Development

    • Support in designing user-friendly HMI interfaces for monitoring and controlling industrial processes.
    • Assist in integrating HMI systems with PLCs to provide real-time data visualization and operator interaction.

System Integration

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and mechanical engineers, to integrate PLC systems for seamless BESS operations.

Testing and Debugging

    • Conduct thorough testing of PLC programs to identify and resolve errors and anomalies.

Documentation

    • Maintain detailed documentation of PLC programs, configurations, and system modifications.
    • Support creation of technical manuals and user guides for operators and maintenance personnel.

Upgrades and Maintenance

    • Stay updated with advancements in PLC technology and recommend hardware or software upgrades when necessary.
    • Perform routine maintenance and updates to PLC systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.

Safety and Compliance

    • Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations when designing and implementing PLC systems.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Skills in embedded software development and troubleshooting.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for testing, debugging, and optimizing electronic systems.
    • Familiarity with safety protocols and industry standards, such as IEC 61508 or equivalent.
