Full-Time (On-site) Monday-Friday/Ocassional Travel

This position is based in Anchorage, Alaska and requires regular on-site work. Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Relocation assistance is not available for this role.

Colville Inc. is seeking a motivated and experienced IT Systems Engineer to support and enhance a growing internal IT and Cybersecurity program. This is a high-impact role where your technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and initiative will directly shape the reliability, scalability, and security of our systems.

What Youll Do

In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, managing, securing, and optimizing Colvilles IT environment across multiple locations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing user accounts and access across enterprise systems including Microsoft, Oracle, SAGE, Eagle POS, and Epicor
  • Supporting and maintaining operating systems and core application environments
  • Installing, configuring, and optimizing servers, backups, switches, access points, and firewalls
  • Monitoring and maintaining enterprise systems across network, endpoint, and cloud environments
  • Managing hardware and software licensing and ensuring compliance
  • Providing escalated support and assisting with help desk triage as needed
  • Identifying, investigating, and responding to cybersecurity threats using tools such as SIEM, EDR/XDR, NAC, and IDPS
  • Applying and coordinating security patches while minimizing operational impact
  • Supporting backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining network infrastructure including firewalls and VPNs
  • Managing and supporting networked storage systems
  • Collaborating with vendors and internal teams to support operational needs
  • Evaluating and implementing new technologies to improve system performance, scalability, and security
  • Traveling occasionally to Colville locations including Anchorage, Fairbanks, Prudhoe Bay, and Valdez
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support business operations.

What You Bring

We are looking for an experienced IT professional with strong engineering fundamentals and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset:

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Required)
  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration or IT engineering roles solving complex technical challenges
  • Strong experience with virtual environments and cloud infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with Windows-based environments, Epicor, and Oracle systems
  • Familiarity with infrastructure hardware such as servers, UPS systems, and Fortinet devices
  • Working knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and configuration
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting storage systems
  • Strong ability to analyze problems and implement effective, scalable solutions aligned with best practices
  • Experience supporting enterprise IT environments and diverse user groups
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and locations
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with scripting, version control, and documentation of technical work
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional, team-oriented approach with a focus on reliability and accountability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, and Windows Server administration
  • Microsoft certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or Microsoft 365 Certified Administrator
