Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

· Work to ensure that everyone inside the Yard, own as well as subcontractors, are safe and are performing their work in accordance with our CORE principles

· Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met

· Provide Leadership, instruction and control of material control teams

· Motivation of Supervisors

· Responsible for taking care of quality standards, costs & schedule completion

· Provide daily feedback of work progress to Department Manager

· Responsible for optimal work organization

· Review and issue planned target hours to Supervisors

· Establish and maintain shift turnover meeting with Supervisors

· Receive Material on Schedule time and unload, inspect and store material at predefined location

· Add Bar Code to material where missing Bar Code information

· Report any Shortage in timely fashion, generate reorder request

· Set up and coordinate floor stock locations around the workshops for small quantities/regular replenishment of high consumption, and small material

· Issue Material as per planned order to production and retrieve any unused material after production for restock

· Follow up procedures for material handling, receiving, storage, replenishment, etc.

· Assist with the computer system/program for controlling all material transactions. This includes testing of the system according to material management requirements, and initiate necessary changes/modifications to accomplish proper material management

· Accomplish FTZ (foreign trade zone) requirements to material management

· Communicate and coordinate with Production, Planning and Design Departments on material management and create JIT approach for material issue

· Participate in shipbuilding projects. Update and provide status reports on assigned tasks

· Responsible for regular reports on all material transactions in the shipyard

· Continue developing department for material control. This includes employment and training of personnel

· Communicate with Custom Clearance Agent and handle deliveries for all incoming material and expedite deliveries

· Work closely with HPSI production supervisors, Turnkey Coordinator to create JIT material issue approach

· Knowledge and clear understanding of budgets, and forecast man hours

· Verify and ensure maximum employee utilization through Effective Working Hours

· Identify performance issues and implement corrective actions

· Perform other related duties as required and assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, or Business-related field preferred, and or Equivalent experience

· 3+ years’ professional experience:

o In shipyards with shipbuilding production or ship repair

o In business with manufacturing of heavy steel structures

o In production of pressure vessels, boilers & other quality products

o Experience with automated production lines

o Experience in leading Supervisors and production teams

· Understand blueprints, 3-D drawings and technical documents

· Knowledge and understanding of safety rules and procedures

· PC skills desirable

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.
