The Manager Project Controls is responsible for implementing project controls standards and procedures, monitors compliance and initiates corrective measures as necessary. Ensures that all planning and scheduling activities such as schedule development, project reporting and problem analysis activities comply with company and client requirements.

  • Implements project controls standards and procedures, monitors compliance and initiates corrective measures as necessary
  • Ensures that all planning and scheduling activities such as schedule development, project reporting and problem analysis activities comply with company and client requirements
  • Provides consultation to company, client and subcontractors in planning and scheduling; provides options for problem solution
  • Provides QA/QC of cost and scheduling processes, reports and utilization
  • Represents project controls task in meetings with client, subcontractors and others, as required
  • Prepares monthly updating of costs and resources, load schedules, and performs earned value management versus the baseline
  • Prepares, updates and issues master schedules, bar charts and variance reports
  • Prepares specialty schedules, input and progress reports (i.e., start-up schedule and milestones, company and client progress reports)
  • Assists in the development and implementation of information systems used to manage program/project controls
  • Mentoring and Career Development Counselling
  • Produces Direct Margin, Dashboards and Project Utilization reports for Director Construction Management and Regional Directors
  • Uses Critical Path Method to advise Managers and Project Sponsor of cost/schedule impacts
  • Mentors others on project management skills (critical path, productivity and cost tracking methods)
  • Assists Planning and Schedule lead in Schedule reports for Project Managers and Directors
  • Trains and supervises staff as required to provide the following services to project teams: Construction Project Engineering, Quality Assurance/Control, Start-up and Commissioning, Document Control
  • Establishes, maintains and disseminates policies and procedures for assigned functions to ensure consistency among projects
  • Coordinates with the Market Segment Leaders to ensure technological proficiency in all markets served
  • Establishes and maintains proficient and consistent use of Project Management Software
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field required
  • Certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Computer Examiner (CCE), Program Management Professional (PgMP), or related certifications preferred
  • 15+ years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience in development of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), scheduling and schedule analysis, cost estimating and cost control, budget development, reporting and record/document control

Preferred
  • Hands on experience in developing and updating schedules using Primavera P6, cost and resource loading, special customized reports, and other database programs, web-based tools and spreadsheets
  • Experience working on municipal projects is highly desirable
  • Experience in large capital improvement programs highly desirable
  • Advanced knowledge of cost engineering concepts and scheduling skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented complexities
  • Working knowledge with the following software applications: Primavera P6, Primavera Contract Manager, Meridian Prolog, Meridian Proliance, Microsoft SharePoint MOSS/WSS, Crystal Reports or other reporting/analytics applications, SQL Server Database
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
