Job description

Job Title: Engineer MSD 

Business Title:  Quality Engineer

Location:  Conroe, Texas

Brief Description:

The Quality Engineer will collaborate closely with other engineers to support research, evaluation, and quality assurance processes. They will monitor and assess the performance of company equipment, and processes proactively identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary actions to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

The Quality Engineer will report directly to the Quality Manager.

Detailed Description:

  • Assists engineers with product quality investigations and data analysis.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; and making recommendations.
  • Maintains communication with staff and primary stakeholders to provide necessary detail in technical investigations.
  • Lead/conduct internal/external audits to drive improvement.
  • Drive and monitor the required actions based on the audit activity listed above.
  • Participates in engineering projects by conducting tests/experiments and collecting information under the direction of the supervising Engineer.
  • Supports and collaborates with other departments within the organization
  • Develop, initiate, and maintain standard operating procedures for the performance of Quality Assurance, Inspection, and Test functions. 

  • May write and diagram a QC/inspection procedure manuals.

  • May establish controls and inspection points to facilitate detection, correction, and prevention of nonconforming materials, parts, assemblies, and products.

  • Work with Senior Engineers to conduct analyses per specifications and ensures that documentation is kept per MS Directional standards.

  • Ensure that parts and associated documentation are delivered on time, error free and within schedule.

  • Assist to prepare and distribute Quality Plans based upon the requirements of the specifications and customer orders.

  • Assist the Engineering Team to ensure that quality standards comply with division and departmental policies, National and international codes.

  • Create metrics to drive improvements, and build KPI dashboards
  • Pulls and matches data from multiple sources to run performance analysis 

Job Requirements:

  • Strong computer skills with ability to utilize Microsoft Office Software, e.g. MS Word, PowerPoint, Project, Excel etc., and other discipline specific-software applications to drive efficiency in productivity. 
  • String data analytic skills with ability to program in python or R. 
  • Must demonstrate a high level of professional integrity and demeanor.
  • Must be self-motivated, capable of identifying problems and recommending alternative solutions.
  • Must be a self-starter able to take initiative and drive for results.  Must demonstrate high levels of professional integrity and demeanor.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and think strategically with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation.
  • Able to effectively make technical decisions and manage change requests.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously to meet challenging deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • Eligible to drive Company or personal vehicle for Company purposes including the ability to meet requirements of the Company's Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GPA 3.0 or higher. 
  • Lean Six Sigma knowledge and experience.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience with previous engineering internships.

Additional Details:

This job requires the ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines and maintain a calm and professional demeanor when adversity is encountered.  It also requires the physical ability to work in office environment including the ability to sit for long periods of time while performing office or computer tasks as well as in a manufacturing shop environment.  The job may require some overtime.  The job may require some travel. All applicants must be able to commit to a full-time schedule.
