Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Automation / PLC Technician to support automation, instrumentation, and electrical control systems within our chemical manufacturing facility in Brazil, Indiana. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, programming, and improving industrial automation systems that support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial electrical systems in a manufacturing environment. This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the plant.

The Automation / PLC Technician will collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, production, safety, and external vendors to ensure automation systems operate efficiently while maintaining compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Automation & PLC Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment, automation systems, and electrical controls

  • Diagnose electrical, instrumentation, and control system failures using:

    • Multimeters

    • Testing equipment

    • Software diagnostics

    • Control system interfaces

  • Respond quickly to equipment failures and production interruptions to minimize downtime

  • Identify root causes of recurring automation and control system issues

PLC Programming & System Maintenance

  • Program, modify, and maintain PLC logic for industrial automation systems

  • Configure and maintain:

    • HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces)

    • VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives)

    • Industrial communication systems

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on:

    • PLCs

    • Drives

    • Electrical systems

    • Instrumentation

    • Control panels

  • Maintain program backups and system documentation

Instrumentation & Electrical Systems

  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain instrumentation devices including:

    • Pressure transmitters

    • Temperature sensors

    • Level instruments

    • Flow devices

  • Support industrial electrical systems including:

    • Motors

    • Starters

    • Relays

    • Sensors

    • Control circuits

  • Read and interpret:

  • Assist with installation and commissioning of:

Required Qualifications

Education & Technical Training
