Job description

As a family-run, high-tech company with nearly 19,000 employees at 71 locations worldwide, we are looking for forward thinkers with unconventional ideas and drive to join our team. Our company culture, which values collaboration and mutual trust, creates the ideal framework for boldly trying new things and questioning the status quo. Our technologies inspire people to develop and produce things that are currently unimaginable. Whether lasers, machine tools, EUV or electronics - TRUMPF is building technological worlds for future generations. Are you ready for new challenges?
The Change Management Specialist ensures engineering changes are evaluated, approved, implemented, and documented in a controlled and timely manner, enabling TRUMPF products to be released and produced in alignment with customer requirements and business objectives. This role coordinates the evaluation, planning, and implementation of engineering changes by assessing change requests, analyzing drawings and bills of material, facilitating cross-functional reviews, evaluating implementation, inventory, cost, and schedule impacts, and maintaining product configuration and change records within ERP and PLM systems. The specialist collaborates with Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Quality to support implementation plans, coordinate effectivity and inventory considerations, resolve implementation challenges, and ensure successful execution of engineering changes.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage and continuously improve the engineering change management process, including ECN workflows, procedures, governance standards, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Receive, validate, prioritize, and process engineering change requests, ensuring completeness of documentation and compliance with established change management procedures.
  • Coordinate and facilitate cross-functional reviews with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, Service, Suppliers, and Affiliates to evaluate proposed changes and support decision-making.
  • Lead change impact assessments by analyzing technical, quality, cost, inventory, procurement, compliance, and schedule implications, and communicate recommendations to affected organizations.
  • Manage approval workflows and release activities, ensuring required reviews, approvals, and implementation criteria are completed prior to change deployment.
  • Develop and execute implementation plans, including effectivity management, production timing, inventory disposition, supplier coordination, and communication of implementation requirements to affected organizations.
  • Support sourcing, procurement, quoting, and implementation planning activities for new and revised parts by evaluating inventory levels, implementation urgency, and operational requirements.
  • Review engineering changes and assess impacts to production operations, including manufacturing processes, material availability, implementation timing, production continuity, existing inventory, work-in-process, supplier inventory, material obsolescence, and inventory disposition requirements.
  • Determine inventory disposition and rework requirements resulting from engineering changes and develop rework documentation and implementation instructions to support effective implementation while minimizing excess inventory, scrap, and rework costs.
  • Maintain product configuration integrity by creating, updating, and controlling bills of material, drawings, material master data, work instructions, and ERP/PLM records in accordance with approved changes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for engineering change implementation activities and escalate complex or high-risk issues as appropriate to ensure successful implementation and compliance.
  • Monitor and report key change management metrics, facilitate post-implementation reviews, identify root causes of implementation issues, and drive corrective and continuous improvement actions.
  • Develop training materials and deliver training on engineering change processes, implementation requirements, and product changes.

Experience
Three to five years of experience in engineering change management, manufacturing, industrial engineering, supply chain, or a related technical field is preferred. Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), manufacturing processes, and change control procedures is required. Hands-on mechanical aptitude and a strong working knowledge of the metric system are required. Experience with ERP/MRP and PLM systems is required; SAP and SmartSheet experience are preferred.
Education
Bachelor's or associate's degree in mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, formal technical training, and relevant work experience will be considered.
