  • Twin Rivers Paper Company, headquartered in Madawaska, Maine, is an integrated specialty paper manufacturer producing 400,000 tons of paper per year for the packaging, publishing, label, and technical sectors. With 100 years of papermaking history, the company operates a pulp mill in New Brunswick, and diverse paper assets in northern Maine and upstate New York that produce uncoated and coated white papers in a broad range of basis weights and finishes.

With a sound financial structure and a strong balance sheet that fuels continuous investments in its assets, Twin Rivers Paper offers its customers the security of local product availability through a strong, domestically owned manufacturer and the assurance of long-term viability.
    SCOPE:
    Reporting to the Machine Superintendent the Production Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and leadership within the department. Develop and implement best practices to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
    RESPONSIBILTIES:
    • Actively support and promote safe work practices through the mill.

    • Provides support for process improvement projects. These projects will involve chemicals, mechanical improvements, support trails and investigations of new technologies.
    • The Production Engineer will support the mill's Key Performance Indicators (KPI) management system as required. This will include updating operator rounds, auditing of operations for out-of-range process variables and working with management and hourly employees to correct out of range KPI's.
    • Review daily production and quality data, analyzed production and operations issues.
    • Responsibilities include implementing manufacturing processes, troubleshooting process, equipment issues, data collection and analysis.
    • Manage trails, identify process improvements.
    • Assist key personnel in outage planning and operational scheduling.
    • Analyze weekly and monthly process trends.
    • Responsible for weekend coverage on a rotation basis.

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, or Pulp and Paper Science or other engineering discipline.
    • 1-3 years of experience in paper manufacturing
    • Problem solving/technical skills.

    • Computer skills to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    The Production Engineer spends 50% of the time in an office environment preparing reports and attending meetings. The other 50% of the time is spent providing support to operations and promoting safe work practices in a mill environment where the incumbent can be exposed to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, dust, walking and climbing stairs.
