What is a Contractual Parkview RN?

A Contractual Parkview RN is a Registered Nurse who works on a contract basis at Parkview Health or a similar healthcare facility. Instead of being a permanent staff member, they are hired for a specific period or project, often to fill temporary staffing needs or cover leaves. Contractual RNs perform the same clinical duties as permanent nurses, including patient care, administering medications, and collaborating with healthcare teams. This role offers flexibility in scheduling and can provide valuable experience in various units or specialties. However, contractual positions may not include the same benefits as permanent roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Contractual Parkview RN?

A Contractual Parkview RN needs a valid RN license, strong clinical assessment skills, and experience in acute or specialty care. Familiarity with hospital systems like electronic health records (EHR) and specific charting software such as Epic is typically required. Excellent communication, adaptability, and the ability to work independently are valuable soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure high-quality patient care, efficient integration into new teams, and effective management of varying patient needs within the Parkview Health system.

What are some common challenges faced by Contractual Parkview RNs, and how can they be addressed?

Contractual Parkview RNs often face challenges such as adapting quickly to new teams, managing varying patient loads, and navigating unfamiliar documentation systems. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to seeking support from permanent staff. Building rapport with team members and staying organized can help ease transitions between assignments and ensure high-quality patient care. Additionally, being familiar with agency protocols and hospital policies can help RNs integrate more smoothly into each new environment.

LPNs have a more limited scope, focusing on basic patient care under supervision.
