The Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC) is The Graduate Center's University-wide venture that elevates CUNY's legacy of scientific research and education through initiatives in five distinctive, but increasingly interconnected disciplines: environmental sciences, nanoscience, neuroscience, photonics, and structural biology. We seek a Post-award Grants Manger to serve as a front-line representative managing over $30M from more than 50 sponsored projects, and streamlining post-award processes for faculty and staff in the ASRC Photonics Initiative. The incumbent will be experienced at managing multiple awards in a complex, fast-paced research environment involving philanthropic, industrially and governmentally funded programs. The Manager works closely with Initiative Principal Investigators, project staff, ASRC Sponsored Programs Administration staff and Research Foundation staff to ensure fiscal accountability and effective management of sponsored projects from award setup through closeout. This role focuses on budget management, fiscal reporting, deliverables management, and compliance. The Administrator ensures that project expenditures align with sponsor guidelines and institutional policies. Reporting to the Director of the Photonics Initiative, the incumbent will support the efficient daily functioning of the Photonics Initiative's funded research administrative management.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as lead administrator for ASRC Photonics Initiative Principal Investigators in post-award management

  • Monitors all initiative RFCUNY web reports projects to ensure timely and accurate spending

(e.g., ensuring F&A rates are applied to awarded projects, p-card reconciliations have been processed, etc.)

  • Reviews and interprets agency guidelines for awarded projects

  • With PIs, ensure awarded projects' reporting deadlines are met

  • Tracks incoming and outgoing sub-awards to ensure payments are made according to contractual obligations

  • Manages and maintains complex spreadsheets to track submitted and awarded proposals

  • Interfaces with designated RFCUNY Project Administrators

  • Supports and guide initiative researchers and administrators as it relates to RFCUNY OTPS and Personnel policies and procedures (including Workday transition)

  • Maintains Director's Collaborator and Key Personnel tables for pre-award submissions

  • Works with the ASRC Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) office to establish procedures and protocols to assure effective pre-award and post-award administration

  • Assists researchers with interim and final reports, carryover requests and justifications, grant transfers and contract extensions

  • Aids with administrative efforts within the Initiative

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
A preferred candidate should have

-Five or more years of experience managing finances and accounting for multiple awarded grants worth over $10M

-Five or more years of experience managing and reporting deliverables in funded projects

-Experience in awards management within the CUNY system, interacting with a Sponsored Programs Office and

Research Foundation program administrators

-A high degree of professionalism with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and multi-task
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-based environment

Pay Range:

$98,000 - $110,000
