Job description

Zachry is seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support our Home Office team in San Antonio, Texas. The selected individual will be responsible for supporting various stages of the overall commissioning program. Responsibilities include reviewing and evaluating commissioning requirements associated with Requests for Proposals (RFPs), reviewing proposed contract documents, developing preliminary staffing plans, preparing project estimates, executing required pre-mobilization contractual deliverables, and providing technical support to on-site commissioning teams. 

  • Minimum of 10 years of commissioning experience, including at least 5 years in a Commissioning Manager role, with an emphasis on power generation projects.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling software.
  • Working knowledge of cloud-based services and document management systems (Aconex experience is a plus).
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Customer-focused, with the ability to support both internal and external clients.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, and Bluebeam Revu PDF software.
  • Ability to create and modify unique project procedures.
  • Ability to lead meetings and conference calls involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and review engineering documents and drawings.
  • Ability to travel on short notice to project sites or other Zachry offices, if required, without restrictions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry, and move objects safely.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will be in a conservative corporate office environment operating and functioning at a fast pace.Working out of cubicles near other various colleagues who are also in cubes. Some may refer to these workspaces as cube farms.  Our corporate campus includes an on-site cafe with various daily breakfast, lunch and snack-time selections, a sizeable fitness center equipped with various state of the art equipment & weights, outdoor walking/jogging-path, herb garden, basketball half-court, sand-volleyball court, soccer field, as well as a clinic with a certified nurse practitioner. Office noise will be low and generally consist of cube neighbors' phone-calls, conversations and/or laughter.  You can expect people to treat you with friendliness and respect throughout the Zachry campus.

The above description covers the fundamental responsibilities of the Commissioning managerposition. This position is a direct-hire opportunity based in our San Antonio office. Occasional travel may be required to support project needs.

Request for Proposals (RFPs) 

  • Assist in developing staffing plans for commissioning estimates. 
  • Develop construction craft support staffing requirements. 
  • Work with vendors to obtain pricing estimates for third-party commissioning services. 
  • Collaborate with the proposal team in developing the overall project execution plan. 
  • Assist in developing the initial Level 1 project schedule. 
  • Develop commissioning execution plans. 
  • Review proposal contract documents. 

Scheduling 

  • Develop and maintain project commissioning schedules, updating them periodically or as required to ensure they reflect current project information. 

Subject Matter Expert 

  • Assist project teams with all aspects of commissioning activities. 
  • Collaborate with support groups to conduct root cause analyses. 
  • Develop specialized procedures for field activities as required. 

Project Team Support 

  • Support projects as needed, including travel on short notice based on site-specific requirements. This may involve extended durations depending on project needs. 
  • Assist in identifying and securing resources to support project requirements, including onboarding processes such as interviews and networking. 
  • Provide Home Office support for project development activities and issues, including scheduling and scope definition. 
  • Conduct periodic site visits to audit commissioning teams. 

Home Office Responsibilities 

  • Support the update and maintenance of corporate commissioning procedures, processes, and forms. 
  • Assist other Home Office departments and groups with commissioning-related matters.
