DEFINITION: Under close supervision, assists in the loading and unloading of students and monitors students' behavior and safety on the school bus for Sunnyside Unified School District.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
(Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledges, skills and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class).
TASKS:
Conducts pre-trip inspections of bus to assure all equipment, tie downs, and wheel chairs are in proper working condition; assists and secures students on the bus; maintains records of any medical problems or conditions that students may have during transport; assists driver with loading and unloading of passengers.
Monitors students behavior on bus; maintains proper discipline and order on bus; reports and records any discipline incidents; writes and tracks weekly logs of accidents or incidents; assists with cleaning the bus; communicates with staff and parents regarding issues or concerns that have occurred on bus; assists students with health and sicknesses; performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of District policies and procedures.
Knowledge of proper safety practices while traveling.
Knowledge of transportation laws and regulations.
Skill in resolving problems among children.
Skill in handling school bus and handicapped equipment.
Skill in maintaining order and safety.
Skill in following oral and written instructions.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent driving, walking, standing, sitting, bending, quick movements, and may require lifting up to 125 pounds. May be exposed to moving equipment, extreme weather conditions and infectious diseases. Must pass Attendant Physical Performance Test demonstrating knowledge and ability to perform various safety and emergency related tasks. The test may be taken up to three times and must be retaken and passed every two years. This testing requirement is a business necessity and is essential to safe and efficient job performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess an Arizona driver license.
CPR and first aid certification.
Must pass Attendant Physical Performance Test every two years.
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
Salary Grade: C Hourly Pay: $17.60 Hours per Day: 6 Days: 195 Additional Information: 3 Positions Available
