Job description

The Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the guest rooms assigned. Previous cleaning experience as well as the ability to communicate to guests preferred.

Job Scope:

         Responsible for ensuring the overall cleanliness and working order of guest rooms and all surrounding public spaces.

         Maintains proper organization of service carts, storage areas, back landings and supplies.

         Reports and follows up on various maintenance issues.   

         Supervises Housekeeping staff and performs administrative duties in coordination with management. 

         Other duties as required such as preparation of daily show rooms and distribution of hotel informational collateral to employees and guest rooms.

         Update room status in the HotSos application based on the 12-point inspection checklist.

Job Functions:

Inspection (80%)

  • Inspect all guest rooms, including occupied rooms, for proper job completion in accordance with hotel standards.
  • Inspect hallways, stairs, back landings and public spaces for cleanliness and compliance with hotel standards; report and/or correct any deficiencies.
  • Check due outs and discrepancy rooms.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping managers and room attendants queue rooms.
  • Training room attendants on cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Staffing (10%)

  • Attend daily staff meetings and submit reports as needed.
  • Submit recommendations on training and counseling opportunities, safety concerns and feedback on overall staff performance evaluations.
  • Train staff on departmental operations and procedures, counsel staff according to hotel standards and provide additional support to management regarding potential disciplinary action along contractual guidelines.
  • Supervise all Room Attendant and Houseperson activities.

Controlling (10%)

  • Check and report all discrepancies on floors.
  • Check service carts for daily supplies and review staff attire, professional conduct and grooming.
  • Process daily reports, special amenities, report and follow up on maintenance issues.

Qualifications:

  • One year of supervisory experience in Housekeeping, and/or another combination of education and experience that provides the skills required for this position.
  • Clerical adaptability and experience.
  • Minimum level of High School graduate.
  • Fluent in English.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Problem Solving, Group Process & Team Building:

  • Knowledge of Housekeeping operating procedures.
  • Ability to handle job pressures, meet deadlines, and maintain flexibility in job duties.
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities and use good judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to write reports and communicate information in detail. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Salary range: $32.9569 - $43.9426 per hour
