TITLE: Life Science Teacher - High School
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid state teaching certification in Biology/Life Science (grades 9 12)
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Science, Education, or related field
  • Knowledge of current instructional strategies, assessment practices, and curriculum standards
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate

REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
JOB GOAL:
To engage students in the study of life science by developing their understanding of biological concepts, scientific inquiry, and real-world applications, while fostering critical thinking, curiosity, and responsible citizenship.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and deliver standards-based instruction aligned to state and district curriculum
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including labs, inquiry-based learning, and technology integration
  • Assess student learning regularly and adjust instruction based on data
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with students and parents
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and curriculum development
  • Maintain classroom equipment, materials, and lab safety procedures
  • Participate in professional development and school improvement efforts
  • Support school policies, procedures, and extracurricular activities as appropriate

EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and administrative guidelines
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
184 days
Salary established by the Master Contractual Agreement
Work year established by the Board
